Vacationing
- Before leaving town, make sure to stop your mail, newspapers and other deliveries or have a neighbor pick them up to avoid broadcasting you’re not home.
- Install lights and/or radio timers to turn on and off at various times while you’re away. Make sure they’re working properly before you leave.
- Avoid wrinkles by rolling up t-shirts and underwear. Wrap other clothing items around them at the fold line.
- If an airline loses your luggage, make a claim before you leave the airport. Some airlines will not honor claims made after you have left the airport.
- Make a list of items in your checked baggage. Put a copy in your carry-on and leave one at home to make sure you can thoroughly fill out claims forms.
- Coordinate your outfits around a central color so you can mix and match with minimum separate items.
- If you have any liquid in bottles – drinks or toiletries – make sure to only fill them 2/3 full to keep them from expanding and overflowing from cabin pressure.
- Keep these numbers handy. If a credit card is lost or stolen, call:
American Express: 1-800-528-4800 MasterCard: 1-800-627-8372 Visa: 1-800-336-8472
- Pack necklaces and bracelets in drinking straws to avoid tangles.
- Never use your home address on baggage labels. Only supply your name, phone number, and business address.
